Project 5 - Hidden Animal Safari
Description: For this project, we first learned about Henri Rousseau. We looked at some of his artwork that displayed jungle scenes. This was informative and helpful to look at prior to completing this project. After learning more about the jungle we got to make ruby red glasses which would come into use at the completion of our project. Then, we choose an image of an animal that would be present in the jungle. We turned this image upside down and began to draw it on our paper with a blue pencil. After we completed the drawing of the animal we began to add patterns with warm colors. This disguised the animal we drew with blue. Once we completed the pattern we used our previously made ruby red glasses to view the disguised jungle animal.
Extension Activity: An extension activity that could be correlated with this project relates to Language Arts. In addition to this art project, students could create a story associated with their animal. For example, with my jungle animal, I could write about a friendly giraffe who eats leaves and stands for long amounts of time.
